Judgement DAYS: Data owners claiming over their information

The history is the history of expropriation of wealth by more powerful and ingenious groups extracting value from under-used assets. Nowadays, the IT and other data-driven companies scaled the process of extracting value from users’ data.

This way, Google, Facebook, Amazon and Microsoft have built huge amounts of capital on billions users. They have captured every single click ever on their network and have designed their business around the insights they have derived from this data.

This situation can lead to a Judgement DAYS.

One of Judgement DAYS could occur, when “evil AI” or hackers will use your data against you.

Second type of apocalypse may come when universal automation deprives most people of work, and thus the economy will simply stop.

To prevent these scenarios from happening, people are loudly claiming on data as their property. CEO of businesses built on using users data to target ads, now says their priority is data privacy.

Continuing this initiative, they must make the second step: to share the benefits of using users data, with data owners! As DAYS founder Edeard Musinski proposed on Davos presentation of Health-Wealth concept, they have to share users data for health purposes.

A pure for-profit logic versus the pursuit of social and environmental goals.

The shareconomy, collaborative consumption, collaborative economy, or peer economy allow individuals and groups to make money from underused assets.
As defined by Alex Stephany: “The sharing economy is the value in taking underutilized assets and making them accessible online to a community, leading to a reduced need for ownership of those assets…”

As the rapid success of platforms such as Kickstarter, Coursera, Uber, and Airbnb illustrate, the development of the sharing economy reshapes a large number of economic sectors (e.g., finance, education, mobility, hospitality), simultaneously offering real entrepreneurial opportunities and constituting a threat of disruption for traditional sectors.

A central idea of the sharing economy is the optimization of under-used assets. Collaboration is also a capability that allows organizations to adapt quickly to a changing economic environment and rely on “ingredients” of social interaction that have a strong impact on the innovative result. Among those ingredients are processes of shared creation based on shared understanding that none had previously possessed or could obtain on their own.

How to promote sharing economy?

Involves continuous adjustments of expectations around different perspectives in high-tension interactions

  • Degree of encouragement for explanation of differences
  • Ability to engage in situations of disagreement

Continuous building of social ties, developed around positive expectations of trust and reciprocity

  • How obligations and expectations are met

3. Congruence:

Shared vision based on clear expectations, goals, roles, and responsibilities that brings a sense of identity

  • Degree of openness and involvement in decision making
  • Degree of consistency in decisions

4.Access:

People who have access to information

  • Degree of access to people
  • Degree of access to information

5. Mobilization:

The leader ensures the legitimacy to manage resources and manage tensions that are inherent to collaboration

  • How much the leader encourages team autonomy
  • How the leader encourages staff to venture

6.Transparency:

Informal interaction lines among members using information channels molded by transparency

  • Degree of informal social relations

7.Selflessness:

Degree of support and mutual aid in the workplace, which is revealed in the interdependence of individuals

  • In what context one helps the other beyond what is necessary, required, or expected

Flexibility and a stimulating environment for shared creation, which provides openness to ideas, but it is sensitive to resource constraints

9. Self-sufficiency:

Movements of affirmation between individuals and areas, considering the need for autonomy and preservation

10. Sharing:

Process of exchange and combination of shared interests

  • Degree of tolerance to behavioural differences
  • The degree to which each one is perceived to belong to a group

Factors that enable knowledge sharing: a continuous building of positive expectations (Reciprocity) of shared interests, complementary or homogeneous (Sharing), through informal interaction lines (Transparency) among members who have access (Access) to information channels; favourable statement of confidence (Recommendation); and communication skills (Communication of Expertise).
